Principal Message | Matthew O'Brien
Welcome Back to Term 3, I hope that everyone got what they needed out of the break and are ready to attack a short term with the usual vitality and enthusiasm.
The new carpet and painting looks great and has given the entrance a real lift. Thanks again to Cathy for all of her organisation in getting the job done ready to start the new term.
Congratulations Amy and Tim on their engagement. Woo Hoo!!
CHILD SAFETY
Following the recent, traumatic revelations in the child care sector it is timely for us to revisit our Code of Conduct in relation to Child Safety. I have added here an excerpt outlining the unacceptable behaviours in the policy. Please also note that this code of conduct is a part of the Reportable Conduct Scheme. Unacceptable Behaviours
“In instances where a reportable allegation has been made, the matter will be managed in accordance with DOBCEL’s Reportable Conduct Scheme Policy and may be referred to Victoria Police.”
Understand that it is not my role to ascertain the truth or otherwise of allegations. All allegations get reported to the DOBCEL Child Safety team.
STAFFING UPDATE: We have had a very positive response to the Maintenance Team Advertisements and we will begin interviews for this important position shortly.

DIBELS Assessments in Week 2
F-2 teachers Refer to email regarding the timetable.
Year 4 - 6 Teachers - Years 4 to 6 (1 individual assessment) Do it quietly in their classroom.
This might mean you have students use their headphones to listen to an audio book OR watch BTN episodes on their own computers whilst you test the rest of your class.
Audio Book access:
Emily had created a folder of some MP3 Audio Books for Yrs 3- 6 students to access last year. You can copy the following link and paste into your Google Classroom for Whole Class shared Read-aloud or individuals to access with headphones (A great option while you're testing others.) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hfE8hz0YlkOKMsRvA_EMhbe8P1YXI_YA?usp=drive_link
However - they must take note of which 'chapter' they are up to as some are only 5 min. audio files. If you are looking for a specific title - just let Emily know and she will try to locate it and download it for use!

Teacher ARM's:
These will commence this week. Please recheck the bookings for these dates & times as i had to change a couple to work around the DIBEL's testing in week 2. If your time does not suit please let me know as soon as you can. All of the non-teacher ARM's will take place in term 4 this year.
SIMON Update:
When you log into SIMON for the first time you will notice it has changed.
You can alter your home screen to your preferrd option by clicking on your photo in the top right hand corner, and then under layout, choose your option. Have click on them all and see which you prefer, this can be different for everyone.
I have added a video below on Marking the rolls:
This new version also gives us options to create PINS, allowing each person to pin their most used areas within SIMON.
I have added a vido below provided by SIMON to run over some of the changes, including on how to create pins.
Painting & Carpeting Program:
Thank you to everyone who helped move furniture out of the office spaces at the end of term, and then also moved it all back in on Saturday. The new carpet looks brilliant! The September holidays will see Matt & Pat's offices recarpeted (these were just painted), plus the photocopy room and staffroom both painted and carpeted.
Update on Building Program:
I have attached a flyover video we have been given by the architect to look at. Please note, this video was sent to us to show us the concept plan for the landscaping, not the inside of the building or classrooms.

PSG’s
Just a reminder if you are unwell on a day that you have a PSG can you message me on 0438654201 to let me know that you are not at school. I would rather you send a message than an email as if it’s a busy day, I may not get to check my emails. Otherwise let Kellie know. The earlier we know the better so parents can be contacted.
Thanks for your understanding of this.
